St. Paul’s Jewish and Greek culture as instrumental in the transmission of the Gospel
Synopsis
The Apostle of Nations undoubtedly represents a special case of interculturalism or multiculturalism (interculturality) in the dawn of Christianity. His equally deep rootedness in both Jewish and Hellenistic cultures provided him with especially many opportunities in understanding and conveying the Christian message. Nevertheless, his dual culture is not the first or most important fact of his Christian being and acting. Instead, it is his personal experience of Christ, which is the most important source of Paul’s theology and Paul’s apostolate. Jewish and Greek cultural baggage is only and as far as the instrumentarium of Paul’s experience and preaching.
