Synopsis

This paper, following the lyrical persona of Roman Triptych by John Paul II, searches for founding myths, which are the origins of Europe, Poland, and Ukraine. In the first part of the text the author shows a contrast between an ancient myth about kidnapped princess Europe and a contemporary picture of “crystal palace”. Those narrations are about to show an identity and a spirit of The Old Continent. The second part the analysis focuses on mythological depiction of Poland and Ukraine in terms of their shared history. Essay is concluded with references from preceding reflections to the Christian vision of Europe by of Karol Wojtyła — John Paul II.
