Worship of the Most Holy Eucharist in Churches of St. Volodymyr’s Baptism over the centuries
Synopsis
The report highlight the formation process of the worship of the Most Holy Eucharist in the Kyivan Church. It has been represented in the report how the worship wasperformed in Churches of St. Volodymyr’s Baptism over the centuries. It has been explained why the Orthodox Churches of St. Volodymyr’s Baptism (unlike the UGCC) did not practice the worship of the Most Holy Eucharist outside the Liturgy. It has been noted that in the Uniate Church of the 17th century it was customary to worship the Most Holy Eucharist outside the Liturgy. It has been found out where this worship was borrowed from and then incorporated into the UGCC. The essence of such worship (outside the Liturgy) in the UGCC has been explained. It has been stated who propagated the worship (outside the Liturgy) and who was against it in the UGCC over the centuries. The research has shown that despite different approaches to the worship of the Most Holy Eucharist in the Eastern and Western Churches the aim of the Eucharist worship is the reception of Holy Communion by the faithful that takes place during the Divine Liturgy (or Mass).
