Intrapersonal and interpersonal communication in the context of experiencing closeness in the family
Synopsis
The reality of the third decade of the 21st century is characterized by the intensification of life in which volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity have become dominant. The closeness, presence and interpersonal communication that are needed for the well-being of a person’s functioning often require time, which can be a limited resource. The aim of the article is to reflect scientifically on selected aspects of interpersonal communication, intrapersonal communication in the context of experiencing closeness in the family. A critical analysis of the literature was applied. In the process of arguments, the characteristic elements of interpersonal and intrapersonal communication and selected contexts of understanding closeness in the family were identified. Characteristic of the conducted analysis is the focus on intrapersonal communication, which is rarely considered and analyzed. The goal was to pay attention to intrapersonal communication in the context of relationships, interactions between individuals in the family. The perception and purposeful involvement of a person in intrapersonal communication makes a person’s life richer and more conscious, leaving the person in constant process of development. Intrapersonal communication, closeness and interpersonal communication remain in mutual dependence forming a kind of feedback loop in a circular relation of cause and effect. Paying attention to a intrapersonal communication and its impact on interpersonal relationships remains an as yet unexplored area of research.
