Synopsis

Among the research to clarify the conditions achieve optimal psychological wellbeing, attention is also drawn to the role of spirituality. The results are inconclusive, among others due to the use of various, usually single, measures of mental condition and the search, above all, for a relationship between religiousness and a sense of happiness or life satisfaction. The theoretical arrangement of the problem of mental well-being thanks to the three-dimensional concept of Corey L. M. Keyes and Mary Beth Waterman and the issue of spirituality by Irena Heszen-Niejodek, allows to deepen the view on the relationship between spirituality and the personality, emotional and social well-being felt by the individual. At the same time, it should be noted that previous studies have been conducted on broadly understood adult groups, while from the point of view of developmental psychology it is not indifferent to what specific developmental period the examined units are in. The aim of the study was to determine whether there is a relationship between spirituality and the subjective well-being of an individual, as well as to check the nature of this relationship in adult groups in early, middle and late adulthood.
