Zbratanie umysłu z wiarą. W 25 lecie „Fides et ratio” Jana Pawła Wielkiego
Streszczenie
A reflection on the necessity of the relationship between reason and faith, based on St. John Paul II’s encyclical Fides et Ratio (on the 25th anniversary of the publication of the papal document), makes it clear that the mystery of mind and the mysteries of faith meet in logos, a category to which the Church of the first centuries was keen to refer. Faith without reason leads to the astray of fideism, while mind without faith leads to extreme rationalism, where nothing exists beyond the scope of the senses and empiricism. The postulate of a mind open to the Mystery makes it possible not only to discover the logos — the inner sense and creative intention contained in things and reality — but also the sophos — the wisdom’s dimension that relates everything to the Creator. This allows one to encounter one’s God in the mystery of creation.
