Synopsis

The text is a meditative reflection on reconciliation in the light of the apostholic exhortation od John Paul II. The context of the reflection is the biblical pericopes about the Prodigal Son and the story about the construction of the Tower of Babel. The history of the Tower of Babel is considered as an example of a failure to build unity and an expression of totalitarian tendencies to try to unity everything according to a single pattern. On the basis of these two biblical parables, the boundary conditions of  reconciliation are discussed.
