Synopsis

The scholarly monograph A Perspective on the Family, edited by Anna Goch-Murzyniec and Anna Seemann-Majorek, offers an interdisciplinary account of the contemporary family through eight studies devoted to its transformations, crises, and forms of support. In Family in a Communication Crisis: Between Dialogue and Silence, Wiktoria Halina Sękiel examines the role of dialogue in sustaining family bonds; in The Polish State Policy Towards Infertile Couples – An Overview of the Developed Support System, Magdalena Ochońska analyzes support mechanisms for infertile couples; and in The Elements of Logotherapy in the Service of the Family. The Sense of Meaning in Life Among People Experiencing Domestic Violence, Mariusz Ferenczak explores the meaning-centered potential of logotherapy in assisting victims of domestic violence. Anna Goch-Murzyniec, in A Decade of Assistant Support for Families in a Rural Community near Krakow, discusses changes in family assistant practice; Anna Seemann-Majorek, in Family Foster Care in the Project System – Analysis of Support Recipients in the Context of Deinstitutionalization of Social Services, focuses on the child’s situation in foster care; Magdalena Vinco, in The Family as a Mirror of Society – The Crisis of the Family in Isaac Bashevis Singer’s Di familye Mushkat (1950), offers a literary interpretation of family crisis; Marcin Rzepka, in Changing Family Model and Family Functions in Pre-Revolutionary Iran as Reflected in Protestant Missionary and Medical Reports, analyzes historical transformations of the family model; and Zuzana Budayová, in The Place of the Family in the Legislative Social Policy of the Slovak Republic, discusses legal and social mechanisms of family protection. The volume employs literature review, document analysis, legal sources, empirical research, interviews, case studies, and literary and historical interpretation. Its findings show that the family remains a fundamental environment for human development, yet today it requires multidimensional, professional, and long-term support capable of addressing communication, psychological, social, cultural, and institutional challenges.
