Synopsis

Foster care is one of the fundamental issues addressed by social work researchers. The aim of this chapter is to analyze the activity of individuals associated with the family foster care system on selected social networking sites. As social media becomes an increasingly popular and crucial communication tool for foster parents and foster care organizers, this activity can serve as a valuable source of knowledge regarding the state, condition, current needs, problems, and successes of those active in the family foster care sector. The chapter also addresses the support they seek, expect, and whether they actually receive it in the virtual space.
