Synopsis

Changes in the understanding and practice of parenthood, motherhood, and fatherhood are fundamentally affecting family functioning. The involved father, wishing to cope with his redefined and consciously accepted role, seeks the support he can gain among those like him – seeking, goal-oriented to be a good father. A meeting is a form of gaining support, acquiring knowledge, and exchanging experiences. The chapter shows the results of the search for meetings of Polish fathers, analyzing their impact on building fatherly identity and parental competences. The role of support groups, workshops, and social initiatives in the process of redefining the father’s role in both private and public spheres is discussed.
