Synopsis

The chapter presents the application of action research methodology in working with children, youth, families, and local communities. In the face of increasing fragmentation of interpersonal relations and the breakdown of social bonds, especially among the younger generation, this method offers an effective tool for reconstructing subjective well-being and social integration. The study presents a diagnostic-evaluative analysis of contemporary youth functioning in the context of Internet use and its impact on subjective health status, self-esteem, and social relationships. The empirical material includes results from three research projects, including the European Social Survey and the author’s own research conducted between 2010 and 2024. Using examples of projects implemented by the Naszym Dzieciom Foundation in Warsaw (in the Youth Club “Alternatywa”), the paper demonstrates the practical application of action research as an effective way to build community, strengthen social competencies, and counteract the negative effects of the algorithmization of social life.
