The specificity of this book can be considered from two perspectives: didactic and research. Firstly, it can be treated as an introduction to the issue of the relationship between science and religion (Christianity). Important areas of this relationship are examined both from a historical perspective, as well as in the context of contemporary methodological and systematic issues, encompassing problems discussed at the intersection of theology and science (such as physics, cosmology, biology, neuroscience, and psychology). The philosophical sources of disputes between science and theology are also presented. Secondly, the book can serve as a starting point for more advanced research at the intersection of science and religion. It highlights the key challenges that the development of sciences poses to the religious worldview, while also pointing out how the current state of knowledge about the world affects some issues traditionally considered in the field of philosophy of religion (arguments for the existence of God). It also discusses contemporary approaches to resolve the conflict between science and religion, as undertaken by the so-called Kraków School of Philosophy in Science, initiated by Michał Heller. Moreover, the monograph highlights the existential aspect of the science-religion issue.
