Parental role inversion as an experience of disturbed intra-family ties
Synopsis
The purpose of this article is to reflect scientifically on the phenomenon of parentification, seen as an inversion of the parental role, or inverted care, and classified as neglect and a covert form of child abuse. The authors will present the peculiarities of this phenomenon, the course and accompanying mechanisms, the immediate and long-term consequences, with particular emphasis on the effects in the area of relations and family ties, which are transgenerational in nature. The article has a theoretical and review character, the method of analysis of scientific literature and analysis of found data was applied, hence the current state of knowledge will be discussed and practical implications of the analyzed problem will be indicated.
