Keywords:
punishment, reward, religious education, morality, religious lifeSynopsis
This scholarly publication explores the complex issue of Christian upbringing in the context of contemporary challenges of civilization, focusing on the controversial but unavoidable issue of using rewards and punishments as educational methods in the process of religious upbringing. The main issue is to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the indicated models and their impact on the spiritual and moral development of the child. The entire consideration is set in the theoretical framework of the so-called critical analysis of sources and conclusions derived from observations of various pedagogical environments. Referring to theological and pedagogical foundations, the publication analyzes how Gospel values – such as love, forgiveness, justice and responsibility – can shape approaches to self-realization, proper discipline and motivation among children and adolescents. The author provides a critical analysis of traditional parenting methods, while proposing practical strategies that integrate moral principles with the achievements of modern child development psychology. Special emphasis is placed on building intrinsic motivation, developing conscience and forming mature faith. The book offers parents, educators and teachers practical guidance for applying educational methods, and selecting tools for creating the right environment in which children learn responsibility for their actions, experience love and develop a deep relationship with God. Ultimately, the goal of this work is to inspire reflection on how to raise children in a way that reflects God’s love and prepares them to live in truth and independence.
