The Roman Catholic Church and other Christian Churches in the italian historical context
Synopsis
The Church fulfills the mission proper to the People of God, which is participation, communion and, in a certain sense, continuation of the messianic mission of Christ himself. The contemporary Church is keenly aware that only on the basis of ut unum sint omnes it will be possible to implement the Gospel, the ecumenical task that tends to unite those who confess Christ. Launching multiple efforts in this direction, the Roman Catholic Church, in fact, continues to confess with humility that „only that love, which is more powerful than the weakness of human divisions, can definitively achieve the unity that Christ implored from the Father and that the Holy Spirit does not cease to ask for us with inexpressible groans” (DM 13).
