Synopsis

Leadership is defined primarily as the ability to influence others. In this article I would like to highlight how John Paul II fits into the characteristics of political, social and ethical leaders, but at the same time in what sense he deepens the contemporary understanding of leadership and gives it a new point of reference. The Pope’s biography shows us that he was certainly courageous, charismatic, had his own mission and vision and was not afraid to pursue them. Defending humanism, stopping the spread of totalitarianism, striving for peace not only in his own region but in the world, are just some of the goals he achieved as a leader. However, the sources of his leadership are not limited to his personality traits and acquired skills, but have a spiritual nature.
