Synopsis

The present study aims to present and analyze a little-known part of Tischner’s work, which can be classified as Christian apology. Tischner is well-known for his fairly broad spectrum of philosophical and socio-political interests. On the other hand, his works in the field of Christian apologetics and theology are not very well known – to such an extent that some have even accused him of „being silent about God”. The analysis presented here regarding the axiological-personalistic „intimate” argument for the existence of God-Person that Tischner presented in his 1974 article entitled Towards Transcendence, which is a Person and the deeply theological, Trinitarian-anthropological argument for the existence of authentic human freedom contained in his text entitled The Inner Life of God clearly demonstrates Tischner’s indisputable contribution to the field of apologetics and even places him among the most outstanding contemporary apologists of Christianity.
