Synopsis

The aim of the article is to present the psychological concept of participation. Participation can be captured as an activity and as a product. As an act, it is an act of will that spontaneously chooses what someone else chooses. On the other hand, as a product, participation is a new state of a person, its characteristic by which a person strives for a greater good than only his own good. Participation understood in this way is the essence of socialization. To clarify the scope of meaning of the concept of participation, the author proposed a model of a personal subject, within which he distinguished four basic aspects of human activity in the world: action, participation, creation and thinking. The genesis of participation, its mechanism and functions are discussed on the basis of the model. The source of participation is the survival of the value of the relationship with the person to whom the entity opens itself in the form of participation in its life. Participation is not the end of development; it acts as a disintegration of the impulse structures, which allows you to create your own „I” and fill it with content that makes up the identity of the person.
