Synopsis

The understanding of the path can be at least twofold: as a specific route connecting places, which enables overcoming the distance that separates them, and - in an allegorical sense - transferring the meaning of the route into the spiritual sphere. Philosophical reflection on the path has led to interesting statements regarding the requirements imposed on human being by the very fact of wandering. It is necessary to be aware of one’s own condition and the need for sufficient strength so that setting off on a journey makes sense. The Bible contains many pictures of the man’s path and wanderings. From the dawn of history, God commanded men to spread out over the earth, populate it and subdue it (cf. Genesis 1:28). In constant development, on the way, the faith of the Church develops unceasingly, in which every believer grows, perfects and strengthens themselves. The virtue of human path is hope, which directs human life towards the future. The driving force of the Christian path is love - mutual support in wandering, in accordance to what St. Paul called: „walk in the way of love”  (Ephesians 5:2). The human path, therefore, means progress and the pursuit of holiness.
