Streszczenie

The essay deals with the existence of evil in the world. It searches for its origin and meaning in human life based on the philosophical thought of Pope John Paul II, on the basis of his works, biblical accounts and other philosophical and literary texts. He attempts to interpret the metaphor of original sin and sees as one of the possibilities man’s tendency to pride, listed as the first of the deadly sins, which leads to the creation and implementation of utopias. Among other things, he sees the source of evil in man’s ruthless pursuit of perfection, which is a great virtue of humanity, however, in its very purpose is doomed to failure. Perfection is the opposite of humanity, and it is this that distinguishes humans from other beings.
