Synopsis

There are analyzed necessary and sufficient conditions for dialogue to lead to reconciliation. Dialogue is understood as an exchange of arguments, views and positions that are key to reach an agreement between the parties to the conflict. The natural, psychological and cultural causes of hostility are discussed as well as the importance to acknowledge by the guilty in the wrong as well as his redress. According to documents of John Paul II, it is pointed out that the understanding of dialogue between groups should be extended to include the exchange of gifts.
